Wednesday Night Ignite
Youth Ignite 6:30 – 8:00 - grades 6-12
If youth claim from time to time that Sunday morning worship is not for them, then Ignite is! This should not be substituted for Sunday worship but is in some ways modeled after the liturgy of our Sunday service. At Ignite, the youth have the lead. The first 30 minutes of the evening is dedicated to creative arts – a time where youth are lead by ‘experts’ to use art as an expression of worship. We offer art such as creative writing, painting, sculpting, worship leadership, drama, and interpretive movement.
Our music is upbeat and categorized as “praise.” Lyrics are presented via projector and power point. Youth are asked to pray and read scripture. A short talk is presented to the whole group usually in conjunction with media clips. A large portion of our time is spent in small groups divided along age groups. Here, the youth are given the chance to dialogue with one another – to listen and to be heard.
Ignite always begins with a time of fellowship. Youth are encouraged to arrive early so they can spend time “hanging out” with one another.
