Christian Formation

At Haymarket Baptist Church our members are seeking to integrate the gospel of Christ into all aspects of life.
While this certainly requires gathering for Bible study found in the traditional Sunday School hour, our congregation is learning to see all of our life as both an opportunity to grow in our walk with Christ and share his love with others.
Our goal is to create disciples of Christ – those committed to walking in the way of Christ through the following:
Discipleship – practicing the way of Christ through Bible study, prayer, witnessing, and worship. This can happen in many ways. Some are:
- Sunday School
- Men’s and Women’s Bible study
- Topical Study
- Mentors or accountability groups
- Corporate Worship
Community – practicing the way of Christ is not a solitary discipline. While we do need times of solitude, we also need Christian friends who encourage us, teach us, challenge us, and bring us joy. You can find community in all aspects of our church life. Some include:
- Sunday School
- Bible Study Groups
- Accountability Groups
- Mission Organizations
- Ministry Teams
Mission – practicing the way of Christ means we cannot keep our relationship with God to ourselves. We are called to share the hope and love of Christ with others. This happens in many ways – through our relationships, through our commitments, through our giving, and through our doing. Haymarket seeks to involve our congregation in active mission involvement in our community, nation, and world.
Worship – corporate worship is an essential part of practicing the way of Christ. It is here that we find encouragement, healing, and grace while being challenged to confront our sin and commit anew to follow Christ.
Each of these four areas include people working together to follow Christ and be his witness. We hope that you may find ways where you can join us in this journey. Please browse the Christian Formation pages to find where you might fit. Let’s together walk in the way of Christ.
