Minister of Education – Rev. Matthew Hensley, matthewhensley@verizon.net
Rev. Matthew Hensley is Associate Pastor of Christian Education overseeing the faith formation of babies through adults of every stripe at Haymarket Baptist. While this requires him to wear a lot of hats, the areas of ministry that he gets most excited about include equipping Christians for ministry, creating space for Christian community and dialogue, and scattering the church for ministry both in the community and around the world. He also enjoys staying young by working tirelessly with the youth group.
He loves to travel, listen to music, read books, and follow sports – particularly Gamecock football and Red Sox baseball. One day soon, he hopes to get back into long distance running.
Matthew is married to Beth Hensley and they have two children; Jack and Reese. Matthew is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond.

Custodians – Tommy Robinson & Bobby Swindall

Mr. Tommy Robinson is famous all over the state. People who have moved away years ago always remember to ask about “Mr. Tommy, the one who makes everyone feel right at home.” Tommy has been an integral part of Haymarket Baptist Church since the day after he was born in 1920, when his mother brought him to church for the first time. He is always there to open up the church, set up for activities and unlock any locked door there is. Mr. Tommy is very fond of home cooking and sweets, for which his wife, Cornelia, of more than 67 years is famous. He is the proud father of three daughters and one son and the proud grandfather of four and great grandfather of seven. Every day that Tommy is here is a good day!
Bobby Swindall has been a professional custodian for 35 years and has been at Haymarket Baptist Church since 2003. He is the father of three daughters, Robin, Tracy and Bobby Jo, who are all grown and on their own. He has 4 grandchildren: two boys and two girls. Bobby has been married to Debbie for 11 years. His favorite hobbies include running, walking mountain climbing and most of all dancing. While wearing his portable radio he continues to root for the Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Redskins. A real pet lover, Bobby owns three cats and a dog.
